Birbhum Institute of Engineering & Technology was
established by ICARE Birbhum under the Chairmanship of Sri
Somnath Chatterjee, Honourable Speaker of the Fourteenth
Loksabha. The Vice-chairman is Shri Pranab Mukherjee,
Honourable Minister for External Affairs, Government of India. The approval
from A.I.C.T.E. For the Institution was received in 1999.
Following the norms of A.I.C.T.E. a 21 member Board of
Governors started functioning from 15th January, 2000 with
Honourable Professor (Dr.) Ramaranjan Mukherji as its
Chairperson. Situated at sprawling Techno-Complex of the
Tilpara region of Suri town, Birbhum Institute of
Engineering & Technology is the pioneer Engineering Institute
in the District of Birbhum. It is emerging as a 'Quality
Institute' for nurturing the Techno-Professionals of the
present age. The Institute is proud to receive aids from the
Government of West Bengal, Birbhum Zilla Parishad, West Bengal
Power Development Corporation (WBPDCL), and M.P.L.A.D. funds
for the development of the infrastructure and campus.
As per the regulations of the
West Bengal University of Technology and A.I.C.T.E. norms an
applicant for the admission to B.Tech Degree course must have
passed or appeared in 10+2 higher secondary or equivalent
examination with English and a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Mathematics (Compulsory)
and Chemistry taken together for being eligible. If at the time of admission
the results of 10 + 2 H.S. is not declared the applicant has
to give an undertaking that if he fails to pass the
examination with the specified requirements, he will withdraw his name from the Institution .More
